Flu shot day

Good morning world!
I feel so alive today. I know it´s only 6.10 am but I have slept like a baby. I fell asleep in the couch again, like I always do. This time to a REALLY good episode of Criminal Minds so that sucked :=( Probably because I ate too much apple pie ha ha ha.
Yesterday at work me and Urszula decided to get a hold of things ourselfs. At the hotel you don´t really get the help you need so if you want things done well honey, you better do it yourself! So that´s what we did. Many of the rooms needed painting and since we only have about 200 of them we decided that if we wanna be done before Christmas we´d better start cracking. So 10 rooms were done yesterday. Yeay for us!!!
When we finished for the day a doctor came to the hotel to give anyone who wanted a flushoot. I had been going though pros and cons for a long time and didn´t really think much of it until my best friend, Mama, was her during the weekend. Since she works with this everyday and a baby AND a baby in her oven I decided to go for it! And no people, no backlashes. Like I said. I sleept like a baby :=)

Back again!

I know I know, this is the usual melody. I tell you I´ll start writing again, a couple of weeks goes by and then I quit and as usual I will make the very same promise this time :=)
Quick update; got married in May, got a promotion at work in September and I am now working as the Executive Housekeeper at Clarion Collection Hotel Twentyseven in Copenhagen, Denmark. Going on my honeymoon next week to Aruba so I can´t be happier.
This weekend has been , as the Americans say, "awsome". The Törndahls came from Norrköping and stayed the weekend. We haven´t done anything but eat, sleep and talk about old memories. I love them! I just wish we lived closer together. They also got married this year and when Mered and I got Sunday brunch tickets at the Hilton we decided to bring them along with us. So off we went yesterday to this spectacular event. My God, I can just tell you, you have never seen a brunch if you haven´t been to this one!
Soon I am off to spinning at SATS and then to the movies at Entré with Adele and her sister. We are going to have some dinner first and then watch "Fame". I have been wanting to see that movie for soooooo long. And tonights the night!!

Weekend pictures

My weekend acctually stared on Thursday. We had a huge party at the hotel with a re launch party of the Icebar becoming a concept of the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. It was a fantastic time. I have posted pictures of that on Facebook if you wanna see. On Friday I went to Queen B´s internship to get my hair done. She´s in a salon in Lilla Torg called Skills. I coloured my hair in preparation for the wedding.

This is my fantastic stylist and best friend, soon to be sister-in-law

Then another friend called me on Friday saying she was in Malmö. She´s also from Märsta but studies in Kiruna. She decided to surprise a friend of hers that has recently moved to Malmö with her boyfriend to start a sushi restaurant.

And I am telling you right now, no joke, I thought I had sushi before. But then I went to N3 in Västra Hamnen, and I can´t even describe it in word. I will let the pictures talk for them selves. Like they say, I picture says more than a 1000 words.

This is the amazing sushi crew at N3.

Then it was time for some B day celebrations. Miss C and her brother J had their B day party so I baked a cake seen by Mr. Mööör up above.

The cutest couple ever :=)

Two of my fantastic bridesmades.....
And now we just came back from dinner with the sushi crew and miss M at Lilla Torg. The food was ok and the company was fantastic. Thanks alot guys for a great weekend. And hope to see you really soon!

Licence to thrill

I don´t kow if I told you that we have a famous person staying at the hotel? Well, anyways, the girl with me in the picture is Aridia Ramos, the winner of something like Idol in Spain. She´s been staying with us for the past week. She is the sweetest girl ever. Problem was only that she didn´t speak a word of English and I don´t speak a word of Spanish, but hey. Thank heaven for Google translator. :=)
Yester day, Melissa Knut and I went for a training course in service. Melissas room mate was going on vacation to Nice so she joined us on the train to the airport. We got on the Metro, thinking the course was at Airport Hotel DAN. What we didn´t know was that they had changed the location to somewhere out in the bushes, 25 minutes away by taxi!
So we got into a taxi. Knut was NOT amused :=)

Once we got there everythin was fine. Lots of food and coffe all day long.
Our motivational speaker of the day, Henrik, was a fantastic and enthusiastic person which reminded me alot of Mr. Bean.

The best thing about the whole day was that the hotel had a ice cream / popcorn machine in the lobby outside the conferance rooms!!!! Can I just tell you that it made my day!!!

Melissa drawing her life changes on a piece of paper....on of the assignements of the day.

L fo love ;=)

Sometimes when I finish work I find this bike outside of the hotel. How cool is this? I have always wondered who rides this typ of bike....

Once in a blue moon, fantastic, amazing and wonderful guests turn up at the hotel. To the left is an example of that. These are two sisters from Guatemala, one now lives in Texas and the other one in Puerto Rico. They have been at the hotel during the week and they left yesterday and I was genuinly sad. They were so wonderful! One of them always travels with Puertorican coffee. She said she never leaves the county without it. And yesterday as they were leaving she gave me one of her precious bags! How amazing isn´t that!
She didn´t think that me and Mered should go to Hawaii for our honey moon. She told me that if we decided to go to Puerto Rico we were more than welcome to stay in her house! Imagine that!

Taking the train

This is what I found on the bridge! I have been going over the brigde between Malmö and Copenhagen for 7 months and the other day I realized that there are flags painted so you know when you are in Sweden and when you are in Denmark. And guess what? Yesterday I managed to get it on camera!!!

On the right are two of my friends from work, Vigas is one of the night managers and Taras works in the Wine Room. Now I´m off to work again!

Tuesday chatting

God morning people!
This is how I started my Tuesday, Skyping with my uncle. I love Skype. Such a fantastic and amazing idéa. The person that came up with this is a genius! Imagine a couple of years ago when everyone was chatting on MSN. Well, that was amazing too. Especially for me that went to school abroad and can´t call my friends on the other side of the world. I write this and you get the picture that I Skype all the time with my friends when in real life the only one I Skype with is Mulle. Well, it´s good enough, since she lives in New York. I wish that Di, Mon and Giselle to just name a few were on Skype more often....*hint hint*....
Yesterday was such a nice day. I was at home most of the day, fully dependant on the TV since I missed both Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill on Sunday night due to our car drive from Norrköping so I had to see the re runs and ofcourse the were spread out during the day which made it impossible for me to leave the appartement :=) I know, I know, I am such a looser when it comes to these teenage drama showes. But at the end I managed to drag myself to spinning class and then for coffee with Marie and Marléen at Lilla Torg.
Today is another day. Not hung up on TV shows though ;=)

weekend in Norrköping

This weekend has been the best in a long long time. I went to Norrköping (about a 4 hour drive from Malmö) to vistit one of my oldes friends that just had a baby.
Mered and Christian was driving up tp Märsta so I went in the car with them. My friend was at a funeral so I had a couple of hours to kill in Norrköping by myself before I meet up with her. But the sun was shining and I had money on my account so I didn´t have any problems with that :=)
About a million years ago another fried of mine, Katta G moved to Norrköping so I decided to go to her makeup store to see if she was still there. And yes she was. It was great to see her again.

Anywas, otherwise this weekend has been about spending time with the February family. Their little ruby is the cutest baby boy I have ever seen. He is so adorable. And yes mama, I still want children after this weeken ;=)

Enjoy these beutiful picures....

Saturday and I´m at work. I love working weekends. No management, no stressed out business men, no rush hours on the train. I love it. The guests are totally different. Instead of going off to meetings and catching flights to go to another seminar everyone is excited about seeing the city, having a drink and just relaxing. I´m not made out for working a monday morning. I love weekends...
Since I last wrote something we have had the pleasure of welcoming a house guest, Christian. It´s a mutual friend of Mered and me (even though Mered probably sees him more of HIS friend :=) Christian is doing his final exam project in Denmark and because of the distance to Gävle where his school is he is staying with us until the end of April. Now, I know what you´re thinking. END OF APRIL!!!! Hey, that´s what I thought, but having him in the house is like a dream. He cooks, he cleans and he does dishes. I love him! He´s fantastic. I just hope that some of this charm rubbes off on my lazy soon to be husband.
Last night I stayed behind after work and had some drinks with Mona and Melissa in the bar and when I woke up this morning I swore to the Gods above that I would not drink tonight. But as always someone always has to destroy my plans and of cours at it happends, Viktoria, Pauline and their husbands are coming by the hotel tonight for some drinks and asked me to join them....Who am I to say no to these sweet innocent people........

Valentine´s Day

Mered & I were both off from work yesterday and decided to do something spontanious. He always complains that I am the opposite of that, which I totally disagree on. I am very spontanious, flexible and open minded. But nooooo, he doens´t think so. Anyways, so yesterday I got the "spontanious" idea of going to Gothenburg for the day. For those of you that has never heard about this place I will let you know that it is Swedens third largest city and it took us about 3 hours to get there and 2,15 minutes to get back!!! whooohaaa, I know. "No comment" (giving Mered the eye)
But why this "spontanious" trip you ask? Well, I found a jewler online that I loved and wanted to go see some of the rings in one of the collections for our wedding. And so we did. We packed us in the car, first stop was Halmstad to visit "one of Swedens largest wedding stores". My ass. I was NOT impressed....Anywho...continued driving and met this fantastic woman named Caroline which had about 1 million diamond rings. I fell inlove yesterday. I have decided on a LARGE diamond ring and now it is all up to my husband to be to approve of the buy. :=) Let´s see if I can´t butter him up tonight :=)
At the moment I´m at work, then I am coming home to a three course menu!!! For all the 5 years we have been together this is I think the 3rd time Mered has cooked for me!

Monday is NOT funday

Yet another weekend has passed and I am back at work....
Well, weekend, I finished my shift on Friday at 11pm and I had to get up at 5 am this morning so I wouldn´t call it a totally free weekend. Last week was Copenhagen fashion week aswell so we were fully book practically every day aswell. But hey, having loads to do makes the time goes even faster.
We work in 2 week shifts. So this week I started of my 2 weeks of morning shifts which means that I have to get up at 5 am. It is horrible. It´s pitch black outside and the people I meet looks more like zombies than humans. The only good thing that comes out of this is that i finish at 3pm.
After work today I am meeting up with our wedding photographer to give him the deposit and then I am going swimming with Artemis.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

I just read about Jessica Simpson and how everybody's picking on her weight. How? She looks amazing. I'm just wondering how a nation like the USA can be so negative about someone that looks that amazing when 65% of the population is overweight.

Jelous much?
What's new you want to know? Well, I have been off work since last Thursday when me and Mered drove from Malmö to Sigtuna. We were supposed to stop in Norrköping to visit one of my oldest and most fantstic friends, Tessan. She was having a baby on the same day that we were drivning up and Norrköping is on the way to Stockholm. But on our way we got a message that they were tired (understandable) so we continued driving. Slept in Sigtuna and went to Uppsala on Friday to have coffee with Maria. We also went to Sandra, another friend that just started her own gym. She's also a fantastic person.

Then Mered and Pierre came to pick me up and we drove all the way up to Gävle to visit Christian that had his 30th birthday. He had no idea that we were coming so it was a huge surprise when he saw us at the restaurant! The whole weekend was fantastic, eating, drink shopping etc. On Sunday we drove back to Sigtuna ( except Mered that had to drive all the way back to Malmö all by himself)

Since then I have been here in Sigtuna with the rest of my family, yes, Mollie too. She surprised all of us by coming all the way from New York.

So the rest of the week we have been making the invitations for the wedding in May. Half of them are finished.I will post a picture later when I get home and have a camera.

Otherwise you can check out my new "quick blogg" on Twitter. The adress is: ww.twitter.com/rebeccamathisen

Things that makes me annoyed

  1. Friends that sends a sms with a "personal" greeting were they wish "You & your family" a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. (My God people! How difficult is it to pick up the phone and call someone? If the person REALLY matters to you you SEND THEM A CARD, not an sms. Don´t try and fit all your guilt of non contact during the year into one pathetic little sms during the Holidays.)
  2. Same goes to B-days. But this is worse.
  3. People on the train that takes more than one seat. (Yes, I know your handbag is EXTREAMLY important and you absolutely can´t possibly have it in your knee but if you take a look around you might notice that the train is full and people are standing up. But still, we all know that your handbag is so precious.
  4. When standing in line at the coffee shop and the guy in front of you is about to order but the girl can´t take his order because HE´S ON THE PHONE! Get off moron!. What the hell! There´s other people than you in this world that want coffee in the morning!
  5. I know that when you are a group of friends walking together that you absolutely MUST walk arm in arm, side by side. God forbid if you let go something might happen! Like : OTHER PEOPLE WANTING TO WALK PAST! MOVE!
  6. When someone calls you on your cellphone and someone else calls you; DON´T PUT THE FIRTS CALLER ON HOLD! They are the ones paying for it DUMBASS!
  7. Same goes for children. If someone calls you and it´s a bad time because your little angel just HAS TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING RIGHT THIS MINUTE AND YELLS "MOMI MOMI MOMI" ask the person that called you if it´s ok to call them back. Don´t talk to your children. I know you love them but I love my money.
  8. Being late. For any reason. How hard is it to make a phonecall or send a sms saying you´ll be about 10 minutes late. NOOOOO!. Let the other person stand in the blistering snow waiting for you wondering what the hell is up. This goes for you Ethiopians too! Beeing late isn´t a part of your culture. IT´S JUST RUDE!
  9. Not saying "thank you" to someone that just spent 2,5 hours in the kitchen making dinner for you lazy ass. EAT SHIT AND DIE!

Christmas update

We found our camera!!!! Or should I day that Bibbis mom found our camera. Apparently we forgot it on the bus when we went to Stockholm last time...ooopsi! It´s been on load ever since we found it and today I brought it to work so I´ll post some pictures tomorrow.
I´m working double shift today which means that I stared at 7 am (went up at 5 am) and I finish at 11 pm. But it´s ok. I´ve had 2 days off now and I have another 4 days off after today. My parents are coming tomorrow and staying until Monday, then Pierre and Maggie are coming and pn Wednesday it´s New Years Eve so there´s not really anytime. It´s amazing how I always manage to book myself all the time without checking to I get time off for my self.
Well, Christmas has been fantastic! On the 23th we went to Helsingborg to celebrate with the Abraham/Cullin family. It´s a tradition down here that everyone goes there. They had made all the food from scratch, there was poridge, Christmas tree and loads of gifts. We didn´t get home until probably 2 am!
On the 24th, which is the day that us swedes celebrates Christmas, we went to Lund to celebrate with the Awoke family, Bibbis family. And again, fantastic food, gifts and cheesecake! What a night. The only bad thing that happend was that I woke up in the middle of night (we spent the night at their house) and I couldn´t breath!!! I had an astma attac! I haven´t had that since I was like 8 years old!!! I couldn´t sleep so I walked around the house a bit and finally ended up on the couche getting a few hours. But when I woke up in the morning I still was not feeling well. Mered went for a walk with me and I felt a little bit better. It was so wierd!!! Today is the day after and I´m still not feeling a 100%. When I walk up the stairs I get out of breath like I´m an 88 year old woman! I need to relax.....

Chrismas starts today!

That´s right my friends. My Christmas starts today! At the moment I´m at work but only until 3 p.m. Then I´m off with the train to Helsingborg! Mereds extended family lives ib Lund and Helsingborg so we´re celebrating half of the Holiday in Helsingborg and then in Lund on the 24th. Fantastic!
Until then, I´m at the hotel. Enjoying the peace and quite this Holiday brings to this place :=)

Rainy day

Woke up almost by myself this morning. I was half awake when my alarm went off at 5 a.m this morning, went up and had a shower. Wonderd what the noice was outside and realised that it was havey rain and wind! Man, and I have to walk to the trainstation which takes me about 15 minutes. Turned out it wasn´t that bad after all. I have a really bad tendancy to make things look and feel worse then what they really are. So I got really surprised when I stepped outside dressed as I was going skiing.
Usually I love the train ride in the morning. Peace and quite, reading my book and just looking outside the window. But during the weekends all the partypeople that has been drinking while I´ve been sleeping are at this hour trying to get their by now hung over asses home. Man, it´s so anyoing. Yapping, screaming, fighting not to puke. Yuk! But I love when the train stops at Copenhagen station and the drunkos are fast asleep missing their stop. To all of you I say: MOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Karma baby. It all comes back to you!
